Ayurveda 2000 was unveiled on 28th January, 2000. The 3-day Conference was organized by Sowparnika Ayurvedic Foundation for Research Health & Education (SAFRHON), along with Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswathi Viswa Mahavidyalaya, Banaras Hindu University, Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute and the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.
This mega Congress was sponsored by Cholayil and co-sponsored by Bush Boak Allen. It was well attended by over 2500 delegates from India and abroad, including the USA, UK, Canada, Italy, Netherlands, Japan, China, Singapore, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
The delegates included senior executives from several pharma companies. The main objective of the conference was to deliberate on the management of selective disorders in Ayurveda, apart from generating awareness on the Indian system of medicine.
This meet also aimed at boosting the sprit of learning and practice of Ayurveda. There were over 25 enlightening guest lectures on selected subjects.
Professor B M Hegde, Vice Chancellor, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, delivered the Cholayil orientation. Along with a commercial exhibition of various Ayurvedic products, medicinal plants of rare and endangered species were displayed at the venue.
Shri. N T Shanmugam, Hon'ble Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, inaugurated the conference. The Prince of Arcot, Nawab Mohammed Ali Azimjah graced the Valedictory function.
