Continuing its efforts to propagate the holistic approach of Ayurveda, Sowparnika Ayurvedic Foundation for Research Health & Education (SAFRHON) organized a 2-day seminar, Second National Ayurveda Congress on 9th and 10th February, 2002 at Bharatiya Vidya Bhawan, Bashir Bagh, Hyderabad. The theme of the Congress was Senile Diseases and Mental Disorders.The seminar was a forum for traditional practitioners of Ayurveda and modern medicine, to deliberate on various aspects and throw light on areas not exposed and discussed much in public forums. Over 700 delegates participated.His Excellency Dr. C Rangarajan, Governor of Andhra Pradesh, inaugurated the congress. Dr. Janardhana Reddy, Hon'ble Minister for Health, Medicine & Family Welfare presided over the function, while Dr. Prathap C Reddy, Chairman, Apollo Hospitals Group was the Guest of Honour.There was a public interactive programme, in which a panel of renowned doctors from all over the country answered questions from the public on selective subjects. The exhibition of the History of Medicine was an added attraction.
